Brother wireless printer setup guide
There are
plenty of options when it comes to connecting your Brother printer to your
computer. Connecting it through a wireless network has some advantages, no need
of wires to connect means you can place your printer anywhere as long as it is
in range of your wireless network. You can print your document from any mobile
device that can connect to the printer.
But setting
up your Brother wireless printer setup is something a tedious job, and one step wrong
jeopardizes the whole process. Don't worry, follow this guide, and you will
have your printer connected to your network in no time.
Find out the network name and the
password.
Before you
start to install your printer on a wireless network, you should first note down
the wireless setting and the password of your router or access point. These setting are essential to connect your
brother printer on a wireless network, so make sure you do not skip this step.
- Check the user manual that came with
the router, most probably you will find the name of the network sometimes also
referred as SSID or ESSID and the network key, also known as the password in
the user manual.
- If you can't find them, their or you
have lost the user manual of your router search the router itself, both the name
of the network and the network key is printed on the back or the side of the
router.
- If you still can’t find the network
name and the key contact your internet service provider or the manufacturer of
your router.
- When you find the network setting

Setup your brother printer on a
wireless network
You have the
network settings; now you can proceed to set up your Brother wireless printer.
- Start by connecting the printer to
the power supply and switching it on.
- Now on the printer’s control panel
press the menu button.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate, find
the select the network and then press OK.
- Another menu list will appear,
navigate to WLAN using the arrow keys and press OK.
- In the next menu, find the Setup

Connect your Brother wireless printer
through WPS
If your router
or the access point supports the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use it to
connect your Brother Printer to your computer.
This method
will only work if your router has the WPS feature. Check the instruction manual
of your router to confirm that it has the WPS support.
- Connect the printer to the power
supply, and press the power-on button.
- Now locate the WPS button on your
router, press and hold it for a few seconds. This will power in the Wi-Fi
Protected Setup.
- On the backside of your printer,
there will be a wireless setup button, use the sharp end of a pencil or pen to
press it and hold for 2 seconds.
- Make sure that you do not press the
wireless setup button for more than 3 seconds as it will change the setup to
the pin method.
- Your printer will search for the
access point or router that supports the Wi-Fi protected setup. During this
time the Toner LED will keep on blinking.
- When both the Toner and Drum LED
start blinking, it means that the printer is now connected to the WLAN or your
access point.
- Wait for some time, when the WLAN
connection is established between your computer and printer, a green LED will
start flashing.
- This means that the printer is now
connected to your computer.
Install the drivers to complete the
Brother Printer wireless setup
After you
have connected the printer to your computer, you should install the printer's
drivers to complete the wireless installation.
You can
install the brother printer drivers from the driver CD that comes with the printer, or you can
download the drivers from the website of Brother printer and install them on
your computer.
- If you have the driver CD, insert it in the disk drive.
- The installation wizard will start
automatically start.
- Click on the install button and wait
for the installation to complete.
- If you don’t have the drivers CD, go
to the Brother Printer’s website homepage.
- From there, go to the download
section.
- In the download section, search for
the drivers of your product.
- When you find them click the download
button.
- After the download, run the setup
wizard, it will install the printer’s drivers.
When you have installed the drivers, restart your computer.
Your printer is now connected to your computer and ready to print.
